Second Term at Full Sail

Sun Sep 27, 2009, 2:49 PM
Monday, Sept. 28, kicks off my second term at Full Sail. I've been eagerly waiting for the compositing class, since that's what I'd like to focus on. I quickly came to the conclusion that modeling is not for me. Oh, I can do the job, but it provides little joy for me -- and I'm done signing up for jobs that make me miserable.

So here is to the next seven months!

  • Mood: Artistic
  • Listening to: Jean Michel Jarre
  • Reading: Harry Potter Vol. 5
  • Watching: Eureka
  • Playing: SF4
  • Drinking: Chocolate milk

After a 15-year career in journalism -- which took me from reporter and photographer to copy-editor and page designer -- I am now back in school to become a 3D animator. I'm attending Full Sail University in Orlando, Fla., and loving every minute of it. Besides drawing and writing, I also compose instrumental music. Feel free to visit my Web site, [link] if you want to listen to something different from what plays on the radio. Thank you for visiting my Deviant Art Gallery.

Nice Gallery! Really nice work you have up at school as well. You are an excellent artist and keep up the great work! :D Do you attend any of the clubs at FS?

Thank you so much for the kind words. No, I haven't been to any of the clubs at FS yet. I need to make the time to check them out. Any recommendations?

I heard the compositors guild is pretty awesome but I have class during the meeting times so I haven't made it to one yet. I plan on going as soon as possible though. They are on Thursdays at 5:00 this month but I believe they are most likely moving to Wednesday next month. Definitely worth checking out if you got the time from what I hear.

I need to check out that group since I want to get into compositing. I hope my August schedule will allow me to go. I've got CDC and geometry. *shivers*

Thanks for the tip.

CDC...no worries...just remember to refer to your references more than you think. When I was in CDC i remember I was in a gas station in a long line waiting to check out....and for some reason while I was standing there waiting, looking at the back of everyone ahead of me...BOOM it hit me..."look at these people's traps and how they go into their neck from the back".....crap I gotta go change that on my model cuz I model it wrong! Reference is key...and be sure to follow the edge flow guides they provide you! ;) I have heard that the better your drawing and sculpting skills the better your modeling skills will be! You should be fine especially if you enjoyed MCR.
